Murdoch Media - Fox News

Fox News is an American multinational conservative cable news television channel owned by Fox News Media, which itself is owned by the Fox Corporation. The channel broadcasts primarily from studios at 1211 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan. Fox News provides service to 86 countries and overseas territories worldwide.

The channel was created by Australian-American media mogul Rupert Murdoch to appeal to a conservative audience, hiring former Republican media consultant and CNBC executive Roger Ailes as its founding CEO. It launched on October 7, 1996, to 17 million cable subscribers.  Fox News grew during the late 1990s and 2000s to become the dominant subscription news network in the U.S. As of September 2018, approximately 87,118,000 U.S. households (90.8% of television subscribers) received Fox News. In 2019, Fox News was the top-rated cable network, averaging 2.5 million viewers.

Fox News has been described as practicing biased reporting in favor of the Republican Party, its politicians, and conservative causes while portraying the Democratic Party in a negative light. Critics have cited the channel as detrimental to the integrity of news overall.

Fox News' official position is that its news reporting operates independently of its opinion and commentary programming, and it has denied bias in its news reporting, although former employees have stated that Fox ordered them to "slant the news in favor of conservatives".

Mercer Family Foundation

Robert and Rebekah Mercer have financed many of the highest-profile ultra-conservative causes of recent years like Parler, Cambridge Analytica, Breitbart News, and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. The Mercers have used the Mercer Family Foundation to funnel money to their ally Stephen Bannon. It is reported they injected over $10 million in the company, which allowed Bannon to build it into one of the most recognizable right-wing media outlets in the country. The Mercer Family Foundation also bankrolled Bannon's behind the scenes effort to produce the book "Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich."

The Washington Free Beacon

The Free Beacon was founded in 2012, as a project of the Center for American Freedom, a conservative advocacy group modeled on the liberal Center for American Progress.

The site is known for its conservative reporting, with the intention of publicizing stories and influencing the coverage of the mainstream media, and modeled after liberal counterparts in the media such as Think Progress and Talking Points Memo. The site has roots in the neoconservative wing of the Republican Party.

From October 2015 to May 2016, the Washington Free Beacon hired Fusion GPS to conduct opposition research on "multiple candidates" during the 2016 presidential election, including Donald Trump. The Free Beacon stopped funding this research when Donald Trump had clinched the Republican nomination.[9] Fusion GPS would later hire former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele and produce a dossier alleging links between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

One America News Network

One America News Network (OANN), also known as One America News (OAN), is a far-right, pro-Trump channel founded by Robert Herring Sr. and owned by Herring Networks, Inc., that launched on July 4, 2013.Reuters reported in October 2021 that Robert Herring Sr. testified in court that the network was created at the urging of executives of AT&T, which has since been the source of up to 90% of the network's revenues.

The channel is known for promoting falsehoods and conspiracy theories.  In November 2020, YouTube suspended OANN for one week and ended its ability to monetize its existing content as a first strike under its three-strike community guideline violation policy for advertising a false cure for COVID-19. In 2021, the channel was sued by Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic for promoting false claims that the companies had engaged in election fraud during the 2020 presidential election.

NewsMax

Newsmax launched a cable TV channel on June 16, 2014.

The website has been described by The New York Times as a "potent force" in U.S. politics and Forbes has described it as a "news powerhouse." CEO Christopher Ruddy has attempted to position the network as a competitor to Fox News. The Washington Post described Newsmax as "a landing spot for cable news personalities in need of a new home," citing the network's airing of Mark Halperin and Bill O'Reilly following their resignations from other networks due to sexual harassment allegations.

After the 2020 United States presidential election, Newsmax published numerous conspiracy theories made by President Trump and the Trump campaign about voter fraud in the 2020 election, though the network never confirmed the veracity of the statements and accepted the election of Joe Biden as duly elected President.

In 2021, the channel was sued by Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic for promoting false claims that the companies had engaged in election fraud during the 2020 presidential election. later issued an apology and publicly retracted any voter fraud conspiracy allegations. When asked about Newsmax's support of former U.S. President Donald Trump, Ruddy stated, "We have an editorial policy of being supportive of the President and his policies".

The Daily Wire
